A friend was telling me this morning that she can no longer express herself by crying. She can laugh and get angry, nervous, or panicked, but no tears come. If she ever does cry...it's when there is a sad movie on TV and she is all alone. I asked her why she felt this was? She immediately changed the subject and moved on.
Why are we afraid to show our emotions and speak our truth. Why do we hide ourselves from our children, spouse, family, and friends. Angry and aggression is easily shown, but fear and sadness..no way. We have been trained as a society that the more fragile emotions are signs of weakness and are not to be shared.
Energetically speaking, fear and sadness are some of the most important emotions to address. They are the most "charged" and left unattended can start to manifest in the body. Rub your belly, that's usually where they are sitting.
I have a project for you today....Cry...tears of sadness, joy, pain, fear...Open the flood gates and let 'em flow. Cry for 10 minutes today...notice how your feel after wards and where you feel it in your body during the process. Great breakthroughs happen during times of emotional release.
